Explaining how Kelsey Plum signing this contract helps the Sparks

Not like the NBA, which has a mushy wage cap, the WNBA operates beneath a tough wage cap, just like the NFL. Which means groups should be far more conscious of their spending in free company so they do not exceed the cap, or else they could possibly be topic to fines and different penalties (together with the lack of draft picks).

Plum taking much less cash helps the Sparks keep beneath the cap, which is crucial after the crew made aggressive strikes early in free company. On Saturday, L.A. re-signed star ahead Dearica Hamby to a three-year, $3.5M deal. The franchise can be within the means of reuniting with fellow ahead Nneka Ogwumike. She performed her first 12 seasons with the Sparks however spent the final two with the Seattle Storm.
