    SEOUL: Round 600 North Korean troopers combating for Russia towards Ukraine have been killed and hundreds extra wounded, a Seoul lawmaker stated on Wednesday (Apr 30), after Pyongyang formally confirmed deploying troops to assist Moscow.

    “Thus far, North Korean troop casualties are estimated at round 4,700, together with roughly 600 deaths,” MP Lee Seong-kweun, a member of parliament’s intelligence committee, informed reporters after a briefing by the nation’s spy company.

    North Korea confirmed for the primary time Monday that it had deployed troops to Russia, with state information company KCNA reporting Pyongyang’s troopers helped Moscow reclaim territory beneath Ukrainian management within the Russian border area of Kursk.

    Moscow had individually confirmed the North’s participation, after months of official silence from each nations, whilst Seoul and Washington accused Pyongyang of sending ever extra troops and weapons to assist.

    Some 2,000 troopers have been taken again to nuclear-armed North Korea this 12 months, Lee stated, and have been now reportedly being held in isolation in Pyongyang and at different places throughout the nation.

    “It’s understood that the our bodies of fallen troopers have been cremated domestically in Kursk earlier than being transported,” again to the North, he added.

    North Korea “supported Russia’s recapture of Kursk by deploying 18,000 troops in two phases“, Lee stated, including that the variety of clashes within the space had decreased since round March.

    Since then, “there have been reviews of misconduct inside North Korean forces, together with extreme ingesting and theft”, he stated.
