Cameron Young went wire-to-wire at Trump Nationwide Doral to win the Cadillac Championship by six pictures. The 28-year-old was so dominant at Doral that he left even World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler impressed.
Scheffler, who performed with Younger in Rounds 1, 2 and 4 on the Cadillac Championship, gushed in regards to the three-time PGA Tour winner’s talent and poise.
“I’ve at all times been very impressed with Cam’s sport,” Scheffler instructed reporters after his second-place end at Doral, per Yahoo Sports. “Each time I’ve performed with him, I’ve at all times been impressed together with his sport. This week, he hit quite a lot of high quality pictures — quite a lot of high quality iron pictures, high quality tee pictures, particularly on the holes the place it actually issues. There are some tee pictures out right here which might be actually troublesome, and he stepped up and hit the pictures.”
To Scheffler’s level, Younger ranked third within the subject in strokes gained from off the tee (3.797) and twenty sixth in strokes gained on strategy (0.989). As strong as his ball-striking was, his red-hot putter was what separated him from the sphere. Younger led the sphere in strokes gained from placing (7.062) and ranked second in scrambling (19/24) for the week.
“First 27 holes, I don’t assume he missed something actually. It was nuts. Man was simply holing every part,” Scheffler mentioned on Sunday. “If you’re hitting actually good pictures and holing quite a lot of putts, that’s a recipe to run away with a golf match.”
That is precisely what Younger did, capturing 64-67-70-68 at Doral to run away from the sphere and cruise to a six-shot victory at 19 below par. Much more impressively, he did so whereas going head-to-head with the perfect golfer on the earth for 54 holes.
