BEIJING: Senior Chinese language and US officers will hold talks in South Korea within the coming days, Beijing’s commerce ministry and Washington’s treasury secretary mentioned Sunday (Might 10), forward of an anticipated summit between leaders Xi Jinping and Donald Trump.

The Chinese language commerce ministry mentioned in an announcement that Vice Premier He Lifeng, Beijing’s prime financial official, will attend “consultations on mutual financial and commerce points” in South Korea on Tuesday and Wednesday.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned in a put up on X: “On Wednesday, I’ll cease in Seoul for a dialogue with Vice Premier He Lifeng of China, earlier than persevering with on to Beijing for the Leaders’ Summit between President Trump and President Xi.”

Trump is ready to go to China for a high-stakes summit with Xi, with the leaders of the world’s prime two economies anticipated to give attention to easing tensions over commerce and Taiwan, with the war in the Middle East looming within the background.
