San Francisco Giants first baseman Rafael Devers claims media members and followers are overreacting to his pinch-run incident in a 2-1 loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday.

In the course of the ninth inning of the competition, Devers initially refused to let rookie heart fielder Jonah Cox pinch-run for him, waving his finger on the dugout and supervisor Tony Vitello. He then stomped off the sphere after exiting the sport.

Devers expanded on the interplay throughout a Tuesday information convention earlier than San Francisco’s house recreation towards the Athletics.

Rafael Devers speaks on pinch-run ordeal

“It was a misunderstanding,” Devers stated via a translator. “Two days previous to that, I instructed the supervisor that I had an issue with my hamstring, and I assumed that was the rationale he was taking me out of the sport … it simply obtained slightly blown out of proportion.”

Devers added he apologized to Vitello’s after Sunday’s recreation, “which was the best factor to do.”
