    DUBAI: Officers from america and Iran will on Wednesday (Jul 1) maintain oblique technical talks on their deal geared toward ending the Center East conflict, a diplomat with information of the talks informed AFP.

    “US and Iranian officers are to carry oblique technical talks on Wednesday in Doha with Qatari and Pakistani mediators on the memorandum of understanding, constructing on the progress made on the Lake Lucerne Summit,” the diplomat stated.

    US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff won’t be collaborating within the technical talks, the diplomat added, after they met with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani on Tuesday.

    Each the US and Iran had stated they’d ship officers for conferences in Qatar.

    The memorandum of understanding, brokered by Qatar and Pakistan, included a 60-day ceasefire within the conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on Feb 28, the reopening of the blockaded Strait of Hormuz and a timeframe for a remaining deal to finish the conflict and attain an settlement on Iran’s nuclear programme.

    Iranian officers had been set to journey to Doha on Wednesday, however Tehran denied an earlier declare by US President Donald Trump that there can be direct talks.

    Iranian overseas ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the Iranian delegation can be led by Deputy International Minister Kazem Gharibabadi however stated the officers “haven’t any plans for negotiations with the American aspect at any stage over the approaching days”.

    Kushner and Witkoff as a substitute met with the Qatari prime minister on Tuesday, the Gulf state’s overseas ministry stated.

    The trio mentioned “the continued talks between america of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran throughout the framework of the memorandum of understanding”, the ministry stated in a press release, including that additionally they mentioned developments in Lebanon.
