State Premier Chris Minns mentioned tons of of hundreds of weapons may very well be returned.

“We wish these weapons handed in, compensated for and safely destroyed,” he mentioned.

“This can be a large endeavor, however the precept behind it’s easy: Fewer harmful weapons in our group means a safer New South Wales.”

Australian authorities initially introduced a nationwide gun buyback rolled out throughout all states and territories.

However these plans have stalled as a result of disagreements over who would foot the invoice and the way it needs to be applied.

Gunman Sajid Akram, 50, was shot and killed by police in the course of the assault at Sydney’s famed Bondi Seashore on Dec 14.

His son Naveed, an Australian-born citizen who stays in jail, has been charged with terrorism and 15 murders.
