LONDON: A “uncommon” human case of hen flu has been detected in England, the UK Well being and Safety Company (UKHSA) introduced on Monday (Jan 27).

“The particular person acquired the an infection on a farm, the place that they had shut and extended contact with a lot of contaminated birds. The chance to the broader public continues to be very low,” the company mentioned in an announcement.

The person, who caught the A(H5N1) an infection in England’s West Midlands, is “effectively” and has been admitted to a Excessive Consequence Infectious Illness (HCID) unit, UKHSA mentioned in an announcement.

The birds have been contaminated with the DI.2 genotype, which is totally different to strains circulating amongst mammals and birds in the USA, it added.

“The chance of avian flu to most people stays very low regardless of this confirmed case”, mentioned Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Adviser at UKHSA.
