    JD Vance was the overwhelming favourite for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination within the Conservative Political Motion Convention’s annual straw ballot on Saturday.

    Vance received the vote with a 61 p.c majority.

    Battle Room host and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon got here in second with 12 p.c of the vote. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was third with seven p.c.

    The Hill reports:

    Sixty-one p.c of CPAC’s 1,022 attendees mentioned they might assist Vance as the long run GOP normal bearer. Twelve p.c mentioned they might assist Trump’s former adviser and right-wing media character Steve Bannon, whereas seven p.c mentioned the identical about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

    Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s UN ambassador nominee Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) every obtained three p.c assist. Donald Trump Jr., Director of Nationwide Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Vivek Ramaswamy, who is anticipated to launch a gubernatorial bid in Ohio subsequent week, all acquired two p.c assist.

    Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders (R), Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R ), Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem and Trump’s former GOP presidential major rival Nikki Haley all obtained one p.c assist. 4 p.c mentioned they have been undecided.

    The ballot was given to CPAC’s 1,022 attendees.
