    SINGAPORE: US President Donald Trump has named entrepreneur Dr Anji Sinha as his nominee to be the nation’s ambassador to Singapore.

    In a put up on Reality Social on Tuesday (Mar 11), Mr Trump stated: “Anji is a extremely revered entrepreneur, with an unbelievable household.

    “The US’ relationship with Singapore is important, and I’ve little question that Anji will strongly signify our nation’s pursuits, and put America first.” 

    Dr Sinha is comparatively little identified, with no presence on web sites or social media.

    The appointment of Dr Sinha is topic to affirmation by the Senate.

    The outgoing US ambassador to Singapore, Mr Jonathan Kaplan, was appointed by former president Joe Biden in July 2021.

    Throughout Mr Trump’s first presidency, the embassy in Singapore was led by a Cost d’Affaires.

    He had initially nominated Ms Okay T McFarland in Could 2017 to be the US ambassador to Singapore, however she withdrew from consideration in February 2018 after her nomination stalled within the Senate. 

    The Senate Overseas Relations Committee stated then that her nomination had been delayed as a result of issues about her testimony to Congress over communications with Russia.
