    JERUSALEM: Hamas on Saturday (Apr 12) launched a video purportedly of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who has been held in Gaza since he was captured by Palestinian militants on Oct 7, 2023.

    Within the undated video, the person who introduces himself as Edan Alexander states he has been held in Gaza for 551 days. The person questions why he’s nonetheless being held and pleads for his launch.

    Alexander is a soldier serving within the Israeli navy.

    The edited video was launched as Jews started to mark Passover, a weeklong vacation that celebrates freedom. Alexander’s household launched an announcement acknowledging the video that stated the vacation wouldn’t be one in all freedom so long as Edan and the 58 different hostages in Gaza remained in captivity.

    Hamas has launched a number of movies over the course of the warfare of hostages begging to be launched. Israeli officers have dismissed previous movies as propaganda that’s designed to place stress on the federal government. The warfare is in its eighteenth month.

    Hamas launched 38 hostages underneath a ceasefire that started on Jan 19. In March, Israel’s navy resumed its floor and aerial marketing campaign on Gaza, abandoning the ceasefire after Hamas rejected proposals to increase the truce with out ending the warfare.
