    Russia will assist the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan battle towards the Afghan department of Islamic State, Moscow’s particular consultant for the nation was quoted as saying on Friday (Could 2).

    Zamir Kabulov, a former Russian ambassador to Afghanistan, referred to Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-Ok) because the “widespread enemy” of Moscow and Kabul.

    “We see and admire the efforts that the Taliban are making within the battle towards the Afghan wing of ISIS,” Kabulov advised the RIA state information company in an interview.

    “We are going to present our greatest help to the authorities of (Afghanistan) via specialised constructions.”

    No nation presently recognises the Taliban authorities that seized energy in August 2021 as US-led forces staged a chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan after 20 years of battle.

    However in a step in the direction of recognition, Russia final month formally eliminated the Taliban from its listing of terrorist organisations, to which it had been added in 2003.

    Kabulov’s feedback underscore the dramatic rapprochement lately between Moscow and Kabul, which President Vladimir Putin stated final 12 months was now Russia’s “ally” in combating terrorism.
