Massie took to X to interrupt the information, writing, “This wasn’t broadly lined within the information, so I’ll inform you: Congress was scheduled to vote on rescissions THIS WEEK to chop the waste that DOGE discovered, however the votes had been quietly canceled. USAID and different packages like PBS and NPR had been to be focused.”

Speaker Johnson’s workplace swiftly pushed again on the declare. Press Secretary Athina Lawson issued an announcement denying any cancellation:

“No votes on rescissions had been “cancelled” this week. The Speaker has repeatedly expressed his dedication to save lots of taxpayer funds by way of the rescissions course of. Underneath regulation, this course of requires a particular message to Congress detailing proposed rescissions BEFORE Congress can act.”
