    The ICAO, which relies in Montreal, didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark. The case was launched in 2022 by Australia and the Netherlands.

    “The choice is a crucial step in the direction of establishing the reality and reaching justice and accountability for all victims of Flight MH17, and their households and family members,” Dutch Overseas Minister Caspar Veldkamp stated in a press release.

    The Netherlands and Australia need the ICAO Council to order Russia to enter into negotiations over reparations, he added.

    Australia Overseas Minister Penny Wong stated her authorities welcomed the choice and urged ICAO to maneuver swiftly to find out cures.
