    Syrian authorities say three ISIL fighters killed and a number of other others detained in Aleppo raids.

    Syrian safety forces have killed three ISIL (ISIS) fighters and arrested 4 others in Aleppo, authorities stated, the primary time the interim authorities has introduced such an operation in opposition to the group in Syria’s second metropolis.

    The raids, launched by the Common Safety Division in coordination with the Common Intelligence Service, focused a number of ISIL sleeper cells working throughout Aleppo, Syria’s Ministry of Inside stated in an announcement on Saturday.

    One safety officer was killed within the operation, it stated.

    Interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who assumed energy in Damascus in December, has lengthy opposed ISIL. His forces battled the group’s self-declared caliphate in the course of the Syrian warfare.

    US President Donald Trump met al-Sharaa this week in Saudi Arabia and described him as an “enticing man with a really robust previous”.

    Following the assembly, Washington announced that it might raise sanctions on Syria – a significant coverage shift and enhance for al-Sharaa’s transitional authorities.

    Al-Sharaa seized energy in Damascus in December after his forces toppled Bashar al-Assad in a lightning offensive. Al-Sharaa minimize ties with al-Qaeda in 2016.

    The latest operation comes simply months after Syrian authorities stated they’d foiled an ISIL bombing plot close to the Sayeda Zeinab shrine, a key pilgrimage website for Shia Muslims south of Damascus.
