    Jacksonville Metropolis Council President Kevin Carrico has revealed that Democrat Mayor Donna Deegan has notified sheriffs to not implement state or native immigration legal guidelines.

    Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been on the forefront of tackling unlawful immigration.

    In a publish to X on Thursday, Carrico wrote, “As to Basic Council Fackler directing JSO to not implement the State and Native Unlawful immigration legal guidelines, This directive not solely ties the fingers of our native regulation enforcement, but it surely undermines the need of the Council and State Legislature. Florida is main the struggle for regulation and order, and as an alternative of standing with us, the Mayor’s lawyer is siding with open-border politics.”

    Carrico mentioned the directive in an interview with Florida’s Voice, saying, “The Workplace of Basic Counsel of the, that was appointed by the Democratic mayor, despatched a letter to the sheriff or e-mail to the sheriff immediately telling him, don’t implement the state unlawful immigration regulation and don’t implement the native unlawful immigration regulation that we’ve been on this present speaking about.”

    The mayor’s workplace confirmed Carrico’s assertion, sharing an e-mail chain concerning the matter with Action News Jax.

    An e-mail from Basic Counsel Michael Fackler learn partly, “The Workplace of Basic Counsel advises JSO to not implement Chapter 605, Jacksonville Municipal Code, whereas the federal courtroom’s injunction of Fla. Stat. SS 811.102-103 is in place. A duplicate of the federal injunction is hooked up.”
