    TOKYO: An explosion occurred at a Japanese navy facility inside a United States air base in Okinawa, officers instructed AFP, with native media reporting non-life-threatening accidents.

    A defence ministry spokesman stated that they had obtained studies of an explosion on the Japan Self-Protection Forces (SDF) facility inside Kadena Air Base within the southern Japanese area.

    Jiji Press and different native media stated 4 accidents had been reported however none have been life-threatening.

    Public broadcaster NHK stated, citing unnamed defence ministry sources, that the explosion might have occurred at a short lived storage website for unexploded bombs, with officers attempting to substantiate the scenario.

    “We have heard there was an explosion on the SDF facility and likewise heard there have been accidents however we do not have additional particulars,” Yuta Matsuda, an area official of Yomitan village in Okinawa, instructed AFP.
