NEW DELHI: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi maintained in a dialog with United States President Donald Trump late on Tuesday (Jun 17) that a ceasefire between India and Pakistan after a four-day conflict in May was achieved by talks between the 2 militaries and never US mediation, India’s senior-most diplomat stated.

Trump had stated final month that the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours agreed to a ceasefire after talks mediated by the US and that the hostilities ended after he urged the countries to focus on trade instead of war.

“PM Modi advised President Trump clearly that in this era, there was no discuss at any stage on topics like India-US commerce deal or US mediation between India and Pakistan,” Indian International Secretary Vikram Misri stated in a press assertion.

“Talks for ceasing army motion occurred immediately between India and Pakistan by current army channels, and on the insistence of Pakistan.
