    BRUSSELS: EU chief Ursula von der Leyen and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (Jul 13) introduced a “political settlement” to conclude a long-awaited free commerce deal, as US leader Donald Trump upends global commerce.

    “We’re residing in turbulent occasions and when economic uncertainty meets geopolitical volatility, companions like us should come nearer collectively. So at this time we’re taking an enormous step ahead on this partnership,” von der Leyen informed journalists in Brussels.

    “I’m very happy to report that we’ve got simply reached a political settlement on an bold Free Commerce Settlement.”

    The 27-nation European bloc and Southeast Asia’s largest economic system have been negotiating since 2016 to agree a deal that’s anticipated to extend commerce and funding.

    A European Fee assertion known as Sunday’s settlement a “decisive milestone” in the direction of putting the deal – which is to be concluded in September by EU commerce chief Maros Sefcovic and Indonesia’s chief financial minister Airlangga Hartarto.
