    SYDNEY: Australia’s authorities stated on Saturday (Jul 26) it signed a treaty with Britain to bolster cooperation over the subsequent 50 years on the AUKUS nuclear submarine partnership.

    The AUKUS pact, agreed upon by Australia, Britain and america in 2021, goals to offer Australia with nuclear-powered assault submarines from the subsequent decade to counter China’s ambitions within the Indo-Pacific.     Defence Minister Richard Marles stated in an announcement that the bilateral treaty was signed with Britain’s Defence Secretary John Healey on Saturday after a gathering within the metropolis of Geelong, in Victoria state.

    “The Geelong Treaty will allow complete cooperation on the design, construct, operation, sustainment and disposal of our SSN-AUKUS submarines,” the assertion stated.
