    Re: “Washington officials rip Trump order on homelessness as ‘unjust, obscene’ ” (July 26, A1)

    This report highlights a standard follow in addressing social issues, that of making use of the hardhearted method of criminalization. I’ve heard many instances that we must be tougher on “them” — on this case, the “them” being the unhoused. There are politicians and lots of within the public who suppose that criminalizing the unhoused will magically get rid of homelessness. We simply must be harsher in how we deal with them and cease enabling them by giving them free stuff.

    This method isn’t new, doesn’t work and solely ignores the deeper causes. These talked about on this article who’re working to handle the problem of homelessness are in a greater place to know what works than the exhausting hearts of the Trump administration.
