    JAKARTA: Indonesia and Peru sealed a commerce settlement on Monday (Aug 11) as their leaders met in Jakarta, with Southeast Asia’s largest financial system seeking to make inroads into South American markets.

    The settlement comes after US President Donald Trump not too long ago imposed a tariff price of 19 per cent on imports from Indonesia beneath a brand new pact.

    Peruvian President Dina Boluarte was greeted by a marching band and nationwide anthems at a ceremony on the presidential palace within the Indonesian capital earlier than talks.

    Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto mentioned the leaders then witnessed the signing of the commerce pact, dubbed a Complete Financial Partnership Settlement (CEPA), which can deepen ties between the 2 nations after he visited Lima final 12 months.

    “This settlement will broaden market entry and enhance commerce exercise between the 2 international locations,” Prabowo mentioned after their assembly.
