WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Saturday (Sep 20) threatened Afghanistan with unspecified punishment if the Taliban-controlled nation didn’t “give Bagram Airbase back”.

“If Afghanistan does not give Bagram Airbase again to people who constructed it, the USA of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!” the 79-year-old chief wrote on his Fact Social platform.

The obscure risk comes simply days after he raised the concept of the USA retaking management of the bottom whereas on a state visit to the United Kingdom.

Bagram, the most important air base in Afghanistan, was a linchpin of the US-led warfare effort towards the Taliban, whose authorities Washington toppled following the Sep 11, 2001 assaults on the USA.

An enormous, sprawling facility, Amnesty Worldwide, Human Rights Watch and others have repeatedly raised allegations of systematic human rights abuses by US forces at Bagram, particularly pertaining to detainees in Washington’s murky “Conflict on Terror”.

Trump has usually lamented the lack of entry to Bagram, noting its proximity to China, however Thursday was the primary time he had made public that he was engaged on the matter.

“We’re attempting to get it again, by the best way, that might be a little bit breaking information. We’re attempting to get it again as a result of they want issues from us,” Trump stated at a press convention with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
