    A championship-winning NASCAR crew chief has discovered a job for the 2026 season. 

    Rodney Childers, who gained the 2014 NASCAR Cup Collection championship with Kevin Harvick and Stewart-Haas Racing, would be the crew chief for the No. 1 workforce at JR Motorsports within the NASCAR Xfinity Collection in 2026, per Fox Sports activities’ Bob Pockrass. 

    Pockrass reported on Wednesday that the No. 1 JRM Chevrolet will probably be cut up between drivers Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil in 2026. 

    What this announcement means for Carson Kvapil and Carson Kvapil 

    That announcement provides some readability to Kvapil’s future, as his 2026 plans had been beforehand unknown. 2025 is Kvapil’s rookie season within the Xfinity Collection, and thru 27 races, the 22-year-old driver has earned 13 top-10 finishes and a playoff berth. 

    Zilisch, in the meantime, will probably be full-time within the NASCAR Cup Collection with Trackhouse Racing for his rookie marketing campaign in 2026 with Randall Burnett atop the pit field. 

    For Childers, the brand new function at JRM will mark his first time again on a NASCAR pit field since April, when, after 9 races with Justin Haley, he was launched by Spire Motorsports. 

    Childers, 49, is a 38-time winner as a crew chief within the NASCAR Cup Collection and is extensively thought of within the storage as top-of-the-line crew chiefs at the moment within the sport.
