    WASHINGTON: The US State Division on Thursday (Oct 2) dismissed a statement from the senior Chinese diplomat in Hong Kong warning the just lately appointed US consul basic there to not intervene within the affairs of the Chinese language-ruled metropolis.

    “US diplomats signify our nation and are charged with advancing US pursuits globally, which is normal apply for diplomats around the globe, together with in Hong Kong,” a senior State Division official mentioned in an announcement in response to the remarks in regards to the consul basic, Julie Eadeh.

    Cui Jianchun, China’s high diplomat in Hong Kong, issued an announcement earlier on Thursday, saying he met Eadeh on Tuesday “to lodge solemn representations on her conducts (sic) since she assumed duties”.

    The assertion, revealed on the web site of Cui’s workplace, urged Eadeh “to abide by basic norms governing worldwide relations, together with non-interference in home affairs and make a clear break with anti-China forces”.

    It mentioned Cui explicitly said the “4 Don’ts” necessities, “specifically do not meet the individuals who the Consul Normal should not meet with, do not collude with anti-China forces, do not instigate, help, abet or fund any actions that undermine stability in Hong Kong, do not intervene with nationwide safety instances in Hong Kong”.
