    RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazil, the world’s greatest exporter of rooster meat, on Friday (Nov 7) welcomed China’s transfer to raise a ban on imports of the product after an outbreak of chicken flu earlier this 12 months.

    China and the European Union suspended imports of Brazilian chicken meat in Might following the outbreak.

    Brazil stated in June it was freed from chicken flu and would resume exports.

    “Progressively, all main importers of rooster meat resumed purchases,” the Brazilian Animal Protein Affiliation (ABPA) wrote on its web site on Friday.

    “Just lately, the European Union introduced the resumption of shipments. Right this moment, China … reopened its ports to Brazilian merchandise.”

    The ABPA stated there had been a “broad and intense diplomatic effort” by the Brazilian authorities to renew exports.

    Earlier than the suspension, China had been the most important importer of rooster meat from Brazil.
