    ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: US President Donald Trump mentioned on Sunday (Nov 30) his administration intends to keep up a pause on asylum choices for “a very long time” after an Afghan nationwide allegedly shot two Nationwide Guard members close to the White Home, killing one among them.

    When requested to specify how lengthy it could final, Trump mentioned he had “no time restrict” in thoughts for the measure, which the Division of Homeland Safety says is linked to an inventory of 19 international locations already going through US journey restrictions.

    “We do not need these individuals,” Trump continued. “You understand why we do not need them? As a result of many have been no good, and so they should not be in our nation.”

    The Trump administration issued the pause within the aftermath of the capturing in Washington on Nov 26, which left 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom useless and one other guardsman critically wounded.

    A 29-year-old Afghan nationwide, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, has been arrested and charged with first-degree homicide in reference to the incident.

    Lakanwal had been a part of a CIA-backed “accomplice drive” combating the Taliban in Afghanistan, and entered the US as a part of a resettlement program following the American navy withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

    Lakanwal had been granted asylum in April 2025, below the Trump administration, however officers have blamed what they known as lax vetting by the federal government of Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden for his admission to US soil throughout the Afghan airlift.

    Trump wrote after the capturing he deliberate to “completely pause migration from all Third World Nations to permit the US system to completely get better”.

    Requested which nationalities could be affected, the Division of Homeland Safety pointed AFP to an inventory of 19 international locations – together with Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, Iran and Myanmar – which since June have all confronted journey restrictions to the US.
