    CARACAS: Venezuelan authorities launched a minimum of 60 folks detained throughout protests towards President Nicolas Maduro’s re-election early on Christmas Day (Dec 25), in line with a human rights advocacy group.

    The arrests adopted mass demonstrations after Maduro secured a 3rd time period in July 2024 elections that have been broadly criticised by the opposition and worldwide observers as fraudulent. Authorities responded with a sweeping crackdown wherein about 2,400 folks have been detained, although practically 2,000 have since been launched.
