Notre Dame soccer head coach Marcus Freeman has been accused of battery over an incident that happened at a wrestling meet with a coach.
Freeman was attending a wrestling meet at Mishawaka Excessive College in Mishawaka, Ind., on Jan. 3 to help his son Vinny. Vinny Freeman was being escorted off the mat after a loss when New Prairie Excessive College wrestling assistant coach Chris Fleeger allegedly started exchanging phrases with him, according to Austin Hough and Kyle Smedley of the South Bend Tribune.
Marcus Freeman allegedly intervened and made bodily contact with Fleeger whereas strolling by way of a doorway. The extent of the contact was not disclosed, however Fleeger filed a police report accusing Freeman of battery. That report has been turned over to a prosecutor, who will decide on whether or not to cost the Notre Dame coach.
The alleged incident ended when native legislation enforcement intervened and separated Freeman and his spouse from Fleeger. The Freeman household left when requested to take action. Information of the potential fees comes on the identical day it was reported that Freeman is still drawing head-coaching interest from NFL groups.
Freeman simply completed up his fourth full season with the Preventing Irish. He has gone 43-12 total and led Notre Dame to the Faculty Soccer Playoff remaining in 2024.
