UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s heat welcome on a go to to China this week marks a thaw in icy relations with Beijing.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in China this week with a big delegation of businesspeople and cultural figures.

He acquired a heat welcome from Chinese language President Xi Jinping.

However the go to bought a frosty reception from the White Home, with United States President Donald Trump calling Starmer’s journey “harmful”.

What prompted Trump’s remarks? And the way necessary was the British prime minister’s go to?

    Presenter: Adrian Finighan

    Visitors:

    Will Hutton – Political economist

Andy Mok – Senior analysis fellow on the Middle for China and Globalization

Steve Tsang – Director of the China Institute at SOAS College of London
