Many of us, together with myself, care about defending our water and mitigating local weather change. Investing in renewable power and leaving fossil fuels behind is a necessary transition right here and now. Our state is usually a chief in supporting photo voltaic, wind, geothermal and different renewable power sources, and I hope our legislators will achieve this.

Ample renewable power has potential to decrease electrical energy prices for ratepayers. Nevertheless, in tandem with this, we should restrict knowledge middle growth and curb extra company power use. It’s regarding that knowledge facilities are consuming large quantities of water and electrical energy, and in lots of instances the prices are being handed unequally to residential ratepayers.

I ask our legislators to please assist Home Invoice 2515/Senate Invoice 6171 and HB 2245/SB 5982, as they are going to encourage accountable knowledge middle growth and curb extra sprawl.

Environmental well being and local weather motion have by no means been extra necessary. Renewable power growth is a obligatory good transfer, and can decrease prices for residential ratepayers. Let’s prioritize these folks when deciding whether or not or to not permit extra knowledge facilities in our communities. And by doing so, we’ll shield farmland, wildlife habitat and the pure open areas that make our state lovely.

    Rebecca Canright, Rockport
