A Boeing airplane caught fireplace after two wheels exploded on the runway on Sunday.
The pilot of Etihad Airways flight EY461 from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi was pressured to halt the takeoff on Sunday as a consequence of an emergency with the plane’s tires.
Firefighters rushed to the airplane and sprayed firefighting foam on the touchdown gear and tires.
A spokesperson for the airline instructed The Solar that every one 300 passengers safely disembarked.
The Solar reported:
FIRE crews swarmed a packed Boeing airplane after its pilot was pressured to abort take-off and “slam the emergency brake”.
Passengers on board the Etihad Airways flight EY461 sure for Abu Dhabi feared the airplane’s tyres had burst after take-off was halted.
The emergency has reportedly led to intensive delays in departures and arrivals at Melbourne Airport.
A Melbourne Airport spokesperson instructed The Solar: “Etihad Airways flight EY461 rejected take off this night when departing Melbourne Airport for Abu Dhabi.
“The Aviation Rescue and Firefighting Service responded to a request from the plane and deployed fireplace preventing foam as a precaution.
“As a result of harm to the plane’s tyres, we’ve got been unable to tow it off the runway.
“Repairs are at the moment underway. All passengers have disembarked the plane and have been bussed to the terminal.
“We proceed to have one runway obtainable for operations, which will likely be used for all arrivals and departures. Disruptions to different flights have been minimal.”
