Regardless of that, the Blue Jays have the depth wanted to fill these innings. Left-hander Eric Lauer and right-hander Max Scherzer, a future Corridor of Famer, will fill in.
Lauer’s terrible spring — an 8.64 ERA and eight earned runs in 4 begins (8.1 innings) — hasn’t appeared to have an effect on his spot within the rotation. Scherzer has been nice in two begins, permitting no runs and putting out six.
