    On Tuesday, Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. hit a major milestone in his restoration from a two-year absence as he returned to the mound for the primary time in 868 days.

    McCullers began Houston’s spring coaching recreation towards the Nationals, and the seven-year MLB veteran received shortstop CJ Abrams to floor out to first baseman Zach Dezenzo to start his outing. 

    McCullers then made up for hitting the subsequent batter he confronted, centerfielder Dylan Crews, by recording outs towards the next two hitters.

    After his transient outing, McCullers spoke with the Astros broadcast crew about his lengthy restoration journey.

    McCullers was named an All-Star in 2017 and completed seventh in Cy Younger voting in 2021, his final full season as a starter. He has a profession 3.48 ERA with a 49-32 file, recording 800 strikeouts in 718.2 innings.
