Thanks for publishing the article “What the EPA’s plan to deregulate greenhouse gas emissions means for WA” (Sept. 2, Local weather Lab).

I practiced cardiology in Oregon and Washington for over 30 years and have seen firsthand what the altering local weather is doing to my sufferers. Of us with coronary heart illness undergo significantly throughout wildfire induced “unhealthy air days” and through excessive warmth occasions. I’ve seen sufferers whose solely explanation for a serious cardiac sickness was warmth and smoke publicity.

These climate-induced well being harms will speed up if we fail to curb greenhouse gasoline emissions. Washingtonians are struggling now and it’s getting worse. I hope that different well being professionals will be part of me and demand that the U.S. Environmental Safety Company retain the science-based endangerment discovering and demand that Congress amend the Clear Air Act to make it crystal clear that it’s the EPA’s job to control local weather air pollution.
