    Re: “How WA’s drought strains the Yakima Valley” (Nov. 16, Local weather Lab):

    In fiscal yr 2024, the Washington Legislature spent about $472 million on varied local weather and fairness centered initiatives. Sadly, lots of these initiatives are missing in any measurable advantages. An enormous paperwork is rising up round using these funds, but it surely largely ignores maybe our state’s most evident and urgent local weather associated crises — the drought that’s ravaging Japanese Washington farms.

    Saving our state’s important water seize and distribution system could require upward of $1 billion in long-term funding with the intention to save a $4.5 billion annual trade. What higher solution to make investments these funds than saving our agricultural heritage?
