    NUUK, Denmark: Energy returned to Greenland’s capital on Sunday (Jan 25) after a sweeping outage in a single day brought on by a transmission failure as a consequence of sturdy winds, the state utility firm Nukissiorfiit stated.

    Nuuk, residence to round 20,000 individuals and largely powered by a hydroelectric plant, was left with out electrical energy at round 10.30pm (Sunday, 8.30am, Singapore time) on Saturday, AFP reporters noticed.

    “The whole metropolis now has electrical energy, water, and heating once more,” Nukissiorfiit stated on Fb early on Sunday.

    It comes days after Greenland’s authorities revealed a brochure providing residents recommendation on disaster preparedness, whereas US President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to grab it by drive.

    Trump backed down after assembly NATO Secretary-Basic Mark Rutte on Wednesday, saying they’d reached a “framework” deal on the Danish autonomous territory.
