Re: “WA isn’t building the clean energy transformation lawmakers demand” (Jan. 4, Opinion):

I thank the editorial board for arguing that we should always set up a state transmission authority in an effort to obtain the clear vitality objectives outlined by the Legislature. The state Legislature is contemplating Senate Invoice 5466, which might set up a state transmission authority.

Rising up, I’ve witnessed local weather change in Washington, notably the lengthening and worsening of the hearth season. At my school within the Northeast, the magnolia bushes outdoors my dorm began budding in December. Even in comparatively secure elements of the nation just like the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast, local weather change is already disrupting ecosystems and human life. Because the editorial board factors out, the regional corporations who construct transmission traces have achieved so at a really sluggish tempo. This present charge of constructing transmission traces is just not adequate. A state transmission authority would have the facility to extend this charge considerably.

We are able to make the most of this difficult second to construct an vitality grid that may serve Washingtonians and shield our surroundings. Fellow readers, please ask your native consultant to help SB 5466.

    Tessa Dunagan, Redmond
