PAKISTAN’S UNLIKELY STARRING ROLE
Pakistan’s worth as a mediator rests on an unusually broad diplomatic community.
Iran was the primary nation to recognise Pakistan following independence in 1947, with the 2 neighbours sharing a 900km border and deep historic, cultural and spiritual ties.
Pakistan can also be house to over 20 million Shia Muslims: the second-largest such inhabitants on this planet after Iran.
Islamabad has cultivated sturdy ties with Washington, Riyadh and Beijing.
Pakistani International Minister Ishaq Dar visited Beijing on the finish of March for talks with Wang Yi, who backed Islamabad’s mediation efforts as “in line with the frequent pursuits of all events”.
