    PARIS: The French Nationwide Monetary Prosecutor’s Workplace stated on Saturday (Feb 7) it had opened an investigation into former Tradition Minister Jack Lang and his daughter Caroline Lang on suspicion of “aggravated tax fraud laundering”, a transfer linked to the late convicted intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein.

    Stress is rising on Lang to resign as president of the Arab World Institute in Paris since files released last week by the US Division of Justice present Epstein and Lang corresponding intermittently between 2012 and the financier’s 2019 demise by suicide in jail.

    French media, together with Le Monde, Le Figaro and Mediapart, reported that the preliminary investigation was opened after US Justice Division paperwork revealed years of correspondence and monetary hyperlinks between Lang and Epstein, together with offshore.

    The workplace confirmed the investigation however didn’t present additional particulars.

    Jack Lang, who denies wrongdoing, has been summoned by the international affairs ministry, the supervisory authority of the Arab World Institute, a cultural and analysis establishment that promotes understanding of the Arab world.

    “Jack Lang was a minister of state, he’ll make his resolution in good conscience,” his lawyer Laurent Merlet informed BFM TV, reacting to requires Lang to depart the establishment.
