    The town is house to round 40 worldwide organisations in addition to 476 NGOs, in response to the Keystone-ATS information company.

    Many of those organisations have been closely reliant on US funds, together with to pay their workers.

    Geneva canton’s financial affairs minister Delphine Bachmann had warned earlier than Friday’s vote that many can be compelled to hold out mass layoffs or be unable to pay staff.

    “Layoff bulletins affecting a number of dozen individuals have already been made,” Bachmann informed the RTS broadcaster on Wednesday.

    The Worldwide Geneva Welcome Centre, which helps staff of worldwide organisations and NGOs, estimates that a number of hundred jobs are on the road, in response to Keystone-ATS.
