    Re: “Trump lays out a vision of power restrained only by ‘my own morality’ ” (Jan. 8, Nation & World):

    When requested which was the upper precedence, acquiring Greenland or preserving NATO, President Donald Trump mentioned “it could be a selection.” He claims there’s nothing to cease him however his personal morality. There needs to be greater than this flimsy safeguard.

    It’s a likelihood for Republicans in Congress to reclaim some misplaced honor by standing up for this at the very least. They need to assemble members who consider, and should not too afraid to say so, that militarily attacking an ally and ruining NATO isn’t just immoral, counterproductive and the best reward to Russian President Vladimir Putin, however prison.

    They need to inform Trump, privately or publicly, that doing so would instantly lead to sufficient Republicans supporting a name for impeachment and sufficient votes to convict this time. Then his personal self-interest could be relied upon.
