    Ukraine‘s International Minister Andrii Sybiha on Saturday appeared to criticize Russia’s bid to amend the US draft.

    “The basis causes of this conflict are (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s denial of Ukraine‘s proper to exist and his want to destroy our nation,” he posted on X. “This is the reason Russia began this conflict, commits atrocities, and tries to vary borders by drive.”

    Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, calling it a “particular army operation” designed to “denazify” its neighbour and halt dangerous NATO growth to the east.

    The UN textual content drafted by Ukraine and the EU “reiterates the pressing want to finish the conflict this 12 months, and to redouble diplomatic efforts to scale back the dangers of additional escalation and obtain a complete, just and lasting peace in Ukraine“.

    It asserts the necessity for the implementation of previous UN resolutions that demanded Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine‘s internationally acknowledged territory, and insisted that Moscow halt hostilities.

    Basic Meeting resolutions are usually not binding however carry political weight, reflecting a world view on the conflict. No counstrive holds a veto within the meeting.
