    TEHRAN: The navies of Iran, Russia and China will maintain army drills off the coast of Iran this week in a bid to spice up cooperation, Iranian media reported on Sunday (Mar 9).

    The three nations, which share a standard need to counter what they characterise as American hegemony, have held comparable workout routines within the area lately.

    The drills “will start on Tuesday within the port of Chabahar”, positioned in southeast Iran on the Gulf of Oman, the Tasnim information company stated, with out specifying their period.

    “Warships and fight and help vessels of the Chinese language and Russian naval forces, in addition to the warships of Iran’s naval forces of the military and the Revolutionary Guards”, the ideological arm of Iran’s army, are anticipated to take part, in accordance with Tasnim.

    The workout routines will happen “within the northern Indian Ocean” and intention to “strengthen safety within the area, and broaden multilateral cooperation between taking part nations”, Tasnim stated.

    Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka will attend as observers.

    China will deploy “a destroyer and a provide ship”, Beijing’s defence ministry stated on the WeChat social media community.

    The Iranian military performed drills in the identical space in February to “strengthen defence capabilities towards any risk”.
