4 strikes hit the runway and a Yemenia Airways airplane, based on Houthi-affiliated media report.

Israel says it has launched air strikes on Yemen’s predominant airport within the capital, Sanaa, a day after Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired two projectiles in direction of Israel.

The Houthi-affiliated information outlet Al Masirah TV reported on Wednesday that 4 strikes hit the runway and a Yemenia Airways airplane.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz mentioned on Wednesday that the Israeli air power struck Houthi “terror targets” on the airport and “destroyed the final plane remaining”.

“It is a clear message and a continuation of our coverage: whoever fires on the State of Israel can pay a heavy value,” Katz mentioned.

The most recent Israeli assault on Yemen comes a day after the Houthi armed group fired two projectiles in direction of Israel that have been shot down by Tel Aviv’s air defences. The Houthis later confirmed that they’d launched two “ballistic missiles”.

Sanaa airport, the most important in Yemen, got here again into service final week after short-term repairs and runway restoration following earlier Israeli strikes.

It was primarily utilized by United Nations plane and the one remaining civilian plane of Yemenia Airways, after three others have been destroyed within the final assault.

Since Israel started its battle on Gaza in October 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly focused Israel in what they are saying is solidarity with the Palestinians within the enclave.

    It is a growing story.
