    “SEEK JUSTICE”

    Al Jazeera listed Wishah alongside one other 10 of its journalists killed in Gaza because the Oct 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel by Palestinian Islamist motion Hamas that triggered the Gaza conflict.

    Amongst them have been Mohammad Salama, who was killed in August 2025, in addition to 4 Al Jazeera employees and two freelancers who have been killed in an Israeli air strike outdoors Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza Metropolis earlier in August 2025, prompting widespread condemnation.

    In its assertion, Al Jazeera stated it will pursue “all obligatory authorized motion to prosecute these liable for the killing of its correspondents and employees in Gaza, and to hunt justice for them and for all fallen journalists”.

    The Israeli navy says it by no means intentionally assaults journalists. Nonetheless, it has admitted to killing quite a few press professionals it accused of being “terrorist” members of the armed wing of Hamas or different Palestinian teams.

    Israel shouldn’t be a signatory to the 1979 Further Protocol I to the 1949 Geneva Conventions, which set out guidelines across the therapy of non-combatants throughout wartime within the wake of the Second World Warfare.

    That protocol contains Article 79, which states that journalists in conflict zones “shall be thought of as civilians … offered that they take no motion adversely affecting their standing as civilians”.

    Israel is a signatory to the unique 4 conventions, the fourth of which supplies wide-ranging protections for civilians who don’t participate in hostilities.
