JOURNALISTS UNDER FIRE
Media watchdog Reporters With out Borders (RSF) expressed “deep anger” on the strike that killed Shaat and his colleagues, whereas the Committee to Shield Journalists (CPJ) stated it was “appalled”.
“This remoted strike on journalists who had been identifiable by their reporting gear might point out focusing on and represent a battle crime,” Martin Roux, head of RSF’s disaster desk was quoted as saying in a press release.
Israel’s superior surveillance and focusing on know-how renders “any claims of misidentification implausible,” Sara Qudah, the CPJ’s Center East and North Africa programme coordinator was quoted in an X publish as saying.
RSF stated that Israeli forces killed no less than 29 Palestinian journalists in Gaza between December 2024 and December 2025.
The deadliest single assault was a so-called “double-tap” strike on a hospital in south Gaza on August 25, which killed 5 journalists, together with two contributors to worldwide information businesses Reuters and the Related Press.
