It was troublesome to learn “Sound Transit light rail gears up for a challenging 7-mile journey” (March 20, A1) with such unfavorable messaging about public transit.

Most main world cities have strong, multilayered networks that individuals rely upon daily. Regardless of the day-to-day engineering work, individuals take it in stride. Seattle’s gentle rail expertise is probably not on the stage of the subway/metro/gentle rail programs of London or Amsterdam or New York or Shanghai, nevertheless it’s getting higher — and needs to be prolonged (Issaquah, Auburn, Tacoma …). Moreover, Seattle has horrible automobile site visitors. Automobiles are costly to drive, insure and preserve — to not point out gasoline.

Public transit is without doubt one of the ways in which nice cities present respect to their residents, and for a lot of, life is difficult sufficient proper now.
