    Re: “Partisanship: ‘Elections have consequences’ ” (Dec. 18, Northwest Voices):

    I query the boilerplate use of the label “conservative” as the other of “progressive” in articles and opinion items discussing occasion politics.

    “Regressive” can be a extra correct label most often. Conservatives favor gradual, secure enchancment versus a radical retrenchment to some imagined previous utopia. Whereas there should still be just a few genuinely conservative politicians, particularly on the native stage, the MAGA motion is unabashedly regressive and never conservative.
