    WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday (Might 8) urged India and Pakistan to take fast steps to de-escalate and interact in dialogue, as he pressed Islamabad to finish any help for “terrorist teams”.

    The 2 nuclear-armed neighbours have engaged in deadly confrontations in current days, after New Delhi blamed Islamabad for backing an assault on the Indian-run facet of disputed Kashmir. Pakistan has denied the cost.

    Rubio, in calls with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian International Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, “emphasised the necessity for fast de-escalation”, a State Division assertion stated.

    “He expressed US help for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and inspired continued efforts to enhance communications,” stated spokeswoman Tammy Bruce.

    In his name with Sharif, Rubio “reiterated his requires Pakistan to take concrete steps to finish any help for terrorist teams”.

    He additionally “expressed sorrow for the reported lack of civilian lives within the present battle”.
